Personal Protection In The Home*

Course Goals

To teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe and proper use of handgun and to provide information on the citizen's right of self-defense.  If you do not already have a handgun we will have various revolvers and semiautomatics available for you to examine.  Students will fire the guns and learn how to clean and care for them.  Topics relevant to personal protection in and away from home are discussed. 

Course Lessons

-The importance of avoiding confrontation.

-Alternatives to lethal force.

-Ammunition.

-Planning for confrontations which might occur.

-Attitudes, thinking, and safety for self-defense.

-The role of handguns in personal protection.

General Course Information

The class is approximately 8 hours.

There is live firing.

Owning a handgun is not a requirement for taking this course.

There will be various revolvers and autoloading handguns for you to examine.

Handguns and ammunition will not be allowed in the classroom. 

Total Course Cost: $110.00

*You are required to have proof of shooting experience such as Basic Pistol or First Steps Pistol certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card or DD214 with pistol qualification before attending this class.

Firearm Safety
Course Length: Approximately 4 hours
Total Course Cost: $65.00

Basic Rifle
Course Length: Approximately 14 hours
Total Course Cost: $150.00

Basic Shotgun
Course Length: Approximately 10 hours
Total Course Cost: $125.00

Personal Instruction, Test Firing
$50 an hour plus the cost of range, firearm rental, ammunition, etc. as needed.

What Will You Learn In An NRA Basic Course?
Using the NRA training method of total participant involvement, basic courses provide hands on learning opportunities in the following areas:

safe firearm handling

firearm parts & operation

ammunition and it's function

shooting fundamentals

how to select, clean, and store a firearm

Attractive certificates are awarded to participants who successfully complete each basic course.

Policies

-We reserve the right to refuse services, to anyone, for any reason.

-Course dates/locations may be changed/postponed, due to enrollment, weather conditions, and/or other events beyond our control.

-Students wishing to cancel out of a course will forfeit the $35.00 deposit.

-Students who are not in attendance on the course date will forfeit the $35.00 deposit.

-Returned checks will be subject to an additional service charge.

-There is a rental fee of $15.00 for use of our firearms and ammunition.

*Deposit AND/OR application must be received at least 3 days prior to class. Please allow appropriate time for your application to be received in the mail. If you make a deposit or full payment online, then you may bring your application with you on the day of class.  Classes are subject to space availability.
